Things Not to Lose

… Like drink recipes when they work the way they should!

A Good Mai-Tai

2 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
2 oz. Goslings Black Seal
1 oz. St. James Martinique Rum
1 oz. Hiram Walker Orange Curacao
½ oz. Torani Orgeat Syrup
Crushed Ice

Put ingredients into a shaker with ice, shake until shaker frosts, pour into a Tiki Glass, garnish with a sprig of mint and a cherry and pineapple wedge on an umbrella.

I’ve tried several different rums replacing the dark and gold rums variously. Meyers and Bacardi Gold can be OK substitutes, but not as flavorful.

Mara Amu (Mai-Kai signature drink)

½ oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
¾ oz. fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
¾ oz. fresh squeezed orange juice
¾ oz. Passion Fruit Syrup
½ oz. Bacardi Light Rum
½ oz. Meyers Dark Rum
½ oz. Ron Botran Anejo Rum
Crushed Ice

Put ingredients into a shaker with ice, shake until shaker frosts, pour into a Tiki Glass, garnish with a Pineapple and Lime wedge.

I’m feeling very depressed today, but life could be worse. I still have rum.
